Portugal

A card I received from two friends of mine and their holiday in Portugal...

well, on one hand I am thankful for the card... didn't expect them to actually send it to me since in general my non-postcrossing Macedonian friends do not really send cards - they give them to me. However, I think I have kinda spread the bug to some of them and on some occasions I get surprised in the mailbox.
Now the thing I am not thankful for is that when they went to Portugal, they never cared to ask their other friends if they maybe wanted to go to...they did have this habit of selfishly organizing a trip and announcing it after things were settled and all...I still don't know how I ended up going to Spain with them....
Anyways, as I said, another friend of mine and I were really bothered about how they played the whole Portugal thing, but what can you do...at least I got to see Prague that year, but that's not the point here :)

Well, I wanna use this occasion to congratulate Portugal on winning the European Championship.
To get something straight though - I didn't watch the Championship nor I could care any less about it. Ok, I am lying, I did 'attend' one match, the one between Portugal and Poland - here many bars and cafes organize events for watching all kinds of matches and the Championship was no exception. Now, I would never really go to a bar to watch a football match like this, but you see, there is this cool bar in Skopje that I haven't been to in ages (and I used to go there often during Uni days) and on this particular occasion they organized a Depeche Mode night...so how can I miss that??! And it was perfect, cos the sound of the TV was on mute, those interested could just watch what was going on (even though I think it was a boring match), while at the same time DM songs were playing...fantastic, just fantastic!
I had no favourites, but in the finals I was rooting for Portugal, probably for the wrong reasons - in general, I never really root for the home-teams...it always feels set-up...and then Iceland lost against France so how can I cheer for France?!! Of course I can't :) And there you go, they got what they deserved :) Sounds evil, but for me it is all just for fun, cos I really give no s*** about football, unlike tennis for example...there things are completely different :)

And maybe it would be fair to mention a few words about the card...it was sent from Lisbon but I'm not sure if the signs here are from Lisbon only or different places in Portugal. Either way it is a really cool card :)

the stamp is from a set of 4 issued in 2010, representing the Circus Chapito.

Qingdao, China

A very cool card from China.

My first received signs' card is here...and so far my favourite so far....
This one here is extra cool as well, and comes from Qingdao, the city which during the 29th Olympic games was the host to the Olympic Sailing competitions. The signs posts on the card point to all the directions in the world where the sister cities of Qingdao are located, specifying their geographic positions and distances from Qingdao.
Anyone wanna take a guess which of these sister cities is highest on my list? Its not that hard...you should know by now :)

three nice Chinese stamps where the first one dates back from 1992, issued in a set of two, representing the year of the monkey....hey thats me thats me!!! I wonder if the sender really knew this or this was by a lucky chance.
The second stamp is from 2004, from a set of 4, under the subject of New year Taohuawu, while the last stamp is from 1998 from a sheet of 8, representing fish
Im extremely thankful to the Chinese for printing the years on the stamps in a language I can understand

Road Signs and Postcard Friendship Friday

You thought that there wont be a PFF post today? Well, honestly, i started thinking the same, but it seems that i can manage to squeeze it in somehow...even though i should be getting ready for tonight....
This card here has been on my very favourite wish list for a long time...a really long time coz this is just one of the coolest cards i had seen, plus i really love the colours of it and all. Anyway, whenever i see it in someone's album, it always said its not available...and the same happened this last time, in one of the tags...i saw it, said its gone...so i went for another card i as well really really like...but i was just wondering, how is it possible that this card is never available.
Anyway, some time later i opened my mailbox and among all the great mail, was this card as well! I couldnt believe it to my eyes! I immediately knew someone had sent it to me coz they had seen it on my wish list but i had no idea who....and it was from my dear Katy from Estonia, but she actually hadnt sent the card...she asked someone else to send it to me coz she knew i would like it and it would make me happy! The funny thing is, that she asked the same person where i saw the card and it said it wasnt available...turned out Katy took the last copy of it, just a few minutes before i did :)))))
I was really touched and happy and delighted...people's thoughtfulness is what amazes me most...and what makes me happy to be a part of all this postcard craze and to know soo many nice people around...I think this card represents it best....it represents all the people I know from all over the world...doesnt matter where they come from....they are all people whom i can call friends even though i havent met them in person..they are all people who think of me when i least expect it...thats such a noble feeling. Black, white, old, young, boys, girls, happy, sad, married, single, weird, ordinary...doesnt matter who you are or where you are from...i want to thank each and everyone of you for every single smile you had brought on my face and for every single smile you had brought to my mailbox...thank you for all those times you had made me feel warm around my heart when it was freezing to death..thank you for making me feel that there is someone out there who thinks of me at times i had felt as the loneliest creature in the universe...even though you are not aware of it, you had all made me get through very rough days, and you keep doing it...no matter what i say, i wont be able to express how thankful i am for everything...as DM would say, feelings are intense, words are trivial...

Clayderman;s concert is in less than two hours....and im not even dressed yet...so i better do something about it :)
Happy PFF Day everyone...and the biggest Thank You to Davida and Katy for making today's post possible to happen :)

Australia

A very cool card with some Australian Road Signs.....is this really authentic and you can actually see this signs across Australia...or its just an interesting way to represent part of the Australian culture and animals???

Not much explanation required....the card says it all.
Just got me into thinking if this kind of card was supposed to be created about Macedonia, what would it actually show off?

Direction Signs

I cant say more except that im TOTALLY in love with this card...I ABSOLUTELY love it and definitely earns the status of "cool cards"....

I think i probably have a quite tricky and complicated taste for cards....well at least for those which dont show cityscapes or nature or in general, the traditional touristic cards....i really love cards like this as well, though i do need to take a look at them first and see if the "cool-cards-detector" is going to get activated or no.....on this one, got activated at an instant while i was actually supposed to choose some German UNESCO :) So yeah, I gave up a UNESCO card for this :)
Btw, my wonder is, whats the starting point on the card...definitely not Europe (I mean, take a look at how much its gonna take you to get to Hamburg!) and according to some logic, it is somewhere in Australia due to the vicinity of Sydney....now, thats IF the distances on the signs are accurate....well even if they're not, the card is still totally cool and worth having! :))
