Amour

Well today is kind of a themed day with no viewcards, but related to some cultural stuff, if I may put it that way and I wanted to share with you some stuff or better say people I admire or like or appreciate in any sense and next up on the list is a movie by one of my favourite directors, that is Michael Haneke

An Austrian guy whose movies are not that light and often weird and explicit whose work often examines social issues, and depicts the feelings of estrangement experienced by individuals in modern society. I cannot say I have a favourite Haneke film, I have liked all the ones I have seen so far (and I think I've seen like 90% of his work). Some I like more, cos they are more dramatic usually (like Funny Games (the Austrian, NOT the US version) or Benny's Video , some are not THAT dramatic, like The White Ribbon or his latest, Happy End but none of  them leave you indifferent.
And some years ago I received this card for his film Amour, another great movie by Haneke which I watched just like a year ago but which really swept me away... cos it was just so relatable. I won't be giving out any spoilers, but this movie just reminded me of my grandmother cos it made me realize all the things I could have done for her while she was bed-ridden but still alive, but I didn't... and it all got me really really sad and depressed, questioning myself why I took things for granted, why hadn't I thought of doing this or that, did it all mean I didn't care enough for her and I was just selfish, trying to stay away from the entire situation cos I thought I couldn't do anything, while I actually could?

Not to this day have I found an answer to these questions, but it is unfortunately true that we often don't see things in this light while people are still alive, and once we do when they are gone, it is just too late...and if there is something true about me is what has been said in this video...and I've been trying to work on it, but for some reason, it hasn't been going that well... why, I really don't know.
Do you find yourself in the same position or you handle these relationships the way they should be handled?
Btw, Anna Akana is one of my favourite public figures, since she is really harismatic, funny, and most of all, I often relate to the things she talks about and puts them in perspective for me, and you know, often it is easier to deal with issues when somehow someone else puts it in words like this.

Totally unplanned, but I am really glad this post ended up being done just for my grandmother's birthday!

Star Wars

Ok, one more card for today...and one that arrived this year...so season of 2016 is officially opened in the labels' section :)

card sent by my Seattle 'mailbox attacker', a.k.a Bryon....and this is an amazing amazing card, showing the Episode IV (New Hope) of Star Wars!! (those are the two Suns of the planet Tatooine)

Ok, a small revelation here...as much as im into space stuff and such, I cannot say I've been that much into the Star War movies (in fact I still havent seen the latest one that was released in December last year (and no, I haven't watched Interstellar either, in case someone was wondering).
HOWEVER, HOWEVER, I am more than thrilled to have received this card...along with the most amazing stamps below ...

and the stamps below (and maybe also the card) arrived due to my comment here on Agi's blog, back in October 2011...yep, 2011!! The comment refers to this Star Wars Post, where I have again stated that I've never been addicted by the Star Wars' Series, but that I'd love to have the stamps...and a nice Seattle fairy grants (part of) my wish...since the rest of the stamps from the set have been dispersed among my Croatian and Serbian pals....so, my dear Croatian and Serbian pals, make sure you watch out your Star Wars stamps and you don't wanna have me invited over to your house as a precaution measure :D :D :D

Speaking of the stamps...the USPS issued this amazing set back in 2007, consisting of 15 stamps in total (geez, that is 12 stamps I should be after in my pals' mail).
So, I was lucky enough to get Princess Leia and R2D2, Han Solo and Chewbacca, aaaaand Luke Skywalker!

Please also notice the USPS cancellation...I rarely notice a cancellation with all those 9 numbers...and in such a clear manner...so, kinda perfect! :)

Thanks a bunch Bryon for this mailbox attack! May the Force be with You! :P

Thanks for reading and see you all...sooner or later :)

Ooty, India

A FANTASTIC official card I received last year....plus it is my only official card from India so far.

IN-15325

The card shows a train running through Ooty, the "Queen of hill stations" and the capital of Nilgiris district. It is one of the most popular tourist resorts in India. Nilgiris means "Blue Mountains". The mountain train journey on a ratchet and pinion track is just another of the tourist attractions. (If I ever go to India, I definitely must put this on the agenda).

This card reminds me of the "Slumdog Millionaire" movie....or maybe the movie reminded me of the card, I dont know....but anyways...in the movie, there are certain events which revolve around a train station (in Mumbai I think), and also a length of train journeys, where there was a train EXACTLY like this on the card...so ok, I guess it was the movie which reminded me I have this card after all.
If you hadnt seen it so far, I highly recommend it...a beautiful and very touching one, with amazing haunting music which I think has been perfectly associated with the movie's actions and events...

here is the official trailer for the movie...

and some train-related scenes of course :P Sorry, but I couldnt help it :)

the bottom line is, WATCH the movie...

The stamp on the right is from a set of 3 definitives issued in 2008, while the otter stamp is another definitive issued in 2000.
