Nassau, Bahamas

Hello May, still in lock-down. Well they are gradually lifting restrictions here, trying to get back life to normal.. or to the new normal.

We still have curfews, though the hours are not as bad as they used to be and either way you dont really have where to go to at night... people are also slowly getting back to work and im not emotionally ready for that.  I wouldnt mind getting some change of scenery, but going back to being stuck in the office for 8 hours a day is not my ideal scenario cos I was really, really not made to work in an office with working hours. Though with some issues we've been having on the Project, it might just get cancelled as well and then there will be no office or anything, so when you think about it, working in an office is still better than not working at all, right?

So I guess it would be smart to make another post before maybe life goes back to crazy again, eh? 😎

First card comes from Glenn and one of his cool cruise trips (Well, Glenn always does some cool cruises actually). I hope he will be able to get back to that soon and of course, brighten up some mailboxes out there 😃
The card is a nice map of the Bahamas, and some brief information about Nassau, its capital.
To spare you from zooming the picture in order to read the text in the top right corner, it says that Nassau lies on the island of New Providence, with its neighbouring island Paradise which can be accessible via Nassau's Habor bridges.
Nassau has an attractive Habour, a colourful blend of old world and colonisation architecture.. The tropical beauty of the Bahamas have made Nassau a popular tourist destination

I just guess that 'habor' is a typo and should be 'harbour' 😏

two beautiful stamps accompanying this card, something typical Bahamish. They are from a set of four whales' stamps issued in 2017, commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the Bahamas Marine Mammal Research Organisation.

Thank you Glenn! Well I have enough of your cards to cover till your next trip 😇

Bahamas

Next is a really cool Bahamas card from the JP fairy ;-)
Interesting, I acquired a nice number of Bahamas cards last year...all written and stamped, but not until now have shown a single one of them...so here we go

the back of the card says:
"A popular Bahamian saying goes..."May you always have sand in your shoes and a dollar in your pocket"
The Bahamian Dollar is on par with the US Dollar. The $3 bill and the 15¢ coin make great souvenirs.

Ok, I have something to say about that saying...unless Im constantly on the beach, id be far from comfortable to have sand in my shoes all the time...as for the dollar...ok, I won't get too picky on that one...much better than an empty pocket ;-)

the stamp was issued in 2013 in a set of 6 stamps representing the Royal Police Force Band.

Merci beacoup JP!!!

Nassau, Bahamas

My dear dear Katie gave me this splendid surprise and thought of me during her stay in the Bahamas! Can you imagine my delight? A written and stamped card from the Bahamas?!!! Not an everyday treat, thats for sure!

From the back of the card: "Whether you prefer quiet, private beaches or lively public ones, Nassau on New Providence Island offers the crystal clear water and powdery white sand that you are looking for".

Ahhh, private or public, id take either....how can I resist a sandy beach like this with crystal clear waters! Yeah, I am desperate for a holiday by the sea or ocean, but unfortunately, with the season coming to a closure, and me still having lot of unsolved issues here, I could still just dream of one....maybe ill be more lucky next year...

The stamp is from a set of 4 issued in 2010, called Friends of the environment.

Thank you so much dear Katie, again and again! You really made me happy!

Atlantis, Bahamas

Bahaaamaaaasssssss...who would have thought???!  Well certainly not me, but some extra cool people like Gaby, do!

And the number of countries received goes up to 96! 4 more to go! Seems such a small number though i think that those 4 are gonna take some time...unless i maybe personally haunt some people and ask for a trade...but i need to stock myself with stamps first...and i  need to look around for people who actually are reliable and interested in swaps...if you have someone to recommend from a country i dont have a postcard yet, please feel free to give your input.
As for the card....when you take a look at it, one gets the impression of, what is he going to do once he slides down....but if you take a closer look, you will see the tunnel which goes under the water...but i still have a question pending....isnt there a chance that the sharks simply jump on you, once you are down....or you need the speed of light to reach the tunnel in order to escape them...and is the entrance under water or above (you cant really take a right look from here)...and if its underwater, it makes it a bit more complicated to reach to it, coz of the water pressure...i mean, anyone who has ever been in a pool/river/lake knows that its not that easy to sink and thatyou just float on the water...in the sea its somewhat different, coz of the salt, and by default, that keeps you on the surface...
I think that i ask way too many quesitons sometimes.....silly and lame ones...
this is what the back of the card says: Mayan Temple - Take a thrilling 60-foot near vertical plunge through an acrylic tunnel submerged in a shark-infested lagoon. The Leap of Faith is one of five exhilarating water slides on the six-story Mayan Temple.
Gaby says that it is not Mexico or not a real Mayan Temple....but i would say that its the thought that counts...more than anything!
Thanks Gaby...as always :)
