Castle Hill Light, USA

A lovely Rhode Island lighthouse.

From the back of the card:
Since 1890, when it was built by the U.S. Coast Guard, this light has marked the entrance to Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay. It originally included a light-keepers house which was removed when the light was automated. The Newport Coast Guard Station is located nearby on the Ocean Drive side of Castle Hill.

My last post for today brings another great map card, and this time it's Rhode Island...and this is my first ever Rhode Island post on this blog!

Rhode Island, or also known as "The Ocean State", may be the smallest state but it is packed with things to do and see.

Nickname: Little Rhody
Area in sq. miles: 1,248
Admission to Statehood: May 29, 1790.

Two nice, and for a change different US stamps. The one on the left is from 2006 from a set of 4 Christmas stamps, while the right one is from 2001, showing the Acadia National Park.
