well, one more card for today, showing a Train Yard in Houston, Texas.
Thanks a lot to Lauren who contacted me to swap for this card...I had had it in my favourites for a long time....not only coz it is related to railways, but I just love the image as a whole with the beautiful sky colour in the background.
This is what the back of the card says: Houston has not evolved into Texas' biggest city by accident. Known as the Bayou City for its waterway system, Houston thrives because it is a great place to work and live. Houston's infrastructure is also strengthened by three airports and a massive trucking and rail system that links the southern, south central, midwestern and western US.
Well, those living in Texas or having had the chance to live there should confirm or deny the aforementioned statement...just for a comparison...the population of Houston is like the population of entire Macedonia so Im not quite sure Im gonna like it, even if it had the most efficient public transport in the world...if it had good cycling paths though, I would give it a thought.
remember this stamp? anyone missed it? well, I must say the colours go really well with the card itself :)
Happy spring everyone!!

Texas, USA
so, if you have started feeling like a couch potato during these cold winter days, here is something to get you moving....just make sure you have good running skills :p
Bryon sent me this great card....which is like a refreshment to my overall collection...I cant say I have a lot of cowboy cards in my collection or cards related to people/animals in general when it comes to the USA.
The back of the card says: Cowboys roping Texas longhorn cattle. Uhmm, seems like they haven't heard of animal welfare :) Though I highly doubt there is any sort of inspection or control out here in the field....pardon my professional damage here, please, but I cant help it :)
On the side note...I have never been able to get into the Western movies....but I liked this Lucky Luke cartoon...
and Im pretty sure you've watched Tom the Cowboy Texan :)
Great stamps from Bryon as usual...this time, we have two ship stamps from a set of 4 Forever stamps issued this year honouring the US Merchant Marine, while the other 22c stamp is from a set of, erm, 50 fauna stamps issued in 1987. The stamp represents the Monarch Butterfly and is perhaps best known of all the North American butterflies.
thank you very much again Bryon!! :)))

Texas, USA
One rather humourous card for the end...
So if you ever wondered what the wardrobe of a Texas person looked like, here is the answer :)
They obviously dont have the problem of variety and wondering what to wear today...and they are all in such different colours and patterns that you can match them with all sorts of different clothes and look fresh and modern every day...not just of the week, but of the month too :)
well, i really like the touch of humour this card has..ive heard that some people can actually get offended coz they feel this card ridicules the Texas people...I guess as many different persons, as many different opinions..im a person who enjoys sarcasm and doesnt get in the negative context unless really intended to be so...and same goes for this card....i just see it as a funny, teasing way....with no intention to harm or offend anyone...if someone does feel that way due to my card posted here, my apologies...that's really not my intention at all neither it has crossed my mind...that's just my sense of humour...

Texas, USA
A new addition to my US map card collection and it comes as an official :)
Here are the usual facts from the back of the card that come along with every US map card of the states.
State Bird: Mockingbird
State Flower: Bluebonnet
State Tree: Pecan
Capital: Austin
Motto: Friendship
Statehood: Dec. 29, 1845 (28th State admitted)
Well, not many facts given...hope you wont mind if i just ramble a bit
You know what happened to me this morning....i woke up out of nowhere, all in panic that i have overslept...then i took a look at the time and saw that it was around 6:30am...meaning i was ok...and then after a few seconds i said to myself..hey, why the hell do you panic, it Saturday today, and i went back to sleep, trying to make the schedule for the day and all...and as i was doing that i was also wondering how could it be Saturday, since I couldnt recall things i have been doing the week before...so for quite some time i was lying in bed, negotiating with myself, which day the hell is it today...somehow i was convinced it was Saturday, but then on the other hand, there was a small voice inside of me telling me that if i keep thinking like that i will REALLY oversleep and be late and all...and yeah, can you imagine how shocking it was to find out that its actually Tuesday =|
there are 3 nice stamps on the card. The one on the left is the 3-cent "make up rate" stamp which was first issued in June 2002 and features a star highlighted in red, white and blue. The middle stamp is a self-adhesive stamp issued in a set of 10 stamps in 2008 representing Tropicl Fruits, and you see here the Papaya. The stamp on the right is another one from 2009, a definitive stamp which features a bottlenose dolphin leaping from the water.
