Museum of Transportation, USA

An update without a train card is not an update :P And here is a rather unique one....

...or scary as it may appear on first, second, 100th sight :)
This appearance to me is at the same time scary, fascinating and powerful...this is the Union Pacific Rotary Snowplow at the Museum of Transportation in St. Louis (Missouri)

from the back of the card: The ultimate weapon in the fight against the snow! This is the world's largest with a 12-ft cutting wheel, which opens to 14 feet with the wings open. Not self-propelled, it needs at least 3 locomotives to push it with an operating speed of 10mph.

Maybe our authorities shall consider of purchasing one of this kind to use it when the snow surprises them and the streets are chaotic...and even though snow is something that regularly happens here in winter, authorities are ALWAYS surprised, and it ALWAYS catches them off guard....

and a bunch of stamps all over the card! among which two I dont really see on my cards...one is the dog stamp from the 'Adopt a Shelter Pet' issue from 2010, while the other 'new' stamp is the flower one at the top right corner, issued in 2004, in a set of 2 'Wedding' stamps.

If anyone has a spare FDC of the pets' stamps, I would love to exchange for those!

Missouri, USA

Card from 2009 showing Hay Bails...

Missouri is well known for its agriculture and has the second largest number of farms of any state. Some of the major crops are soybeans, corn and hay. Missouri also produces a large number of cattle and hogs.
(from the back of the card)

I think that the second and the third stamp are more than familiar, but the first one hasnt been really presented...it is a self-adhesive sunflower stamp issued in 2008.

St. Louis, USA

Here is an evening view of the historic city of St. Louis in Missouri.

The Gateway Arch is located on the banks of the Mississippi river, and it is the tallest national monument in the USA. This stainless steel-plated arch spans 630 feet at ground level from outer edge to outer edge and is 630 feet tall. There is a tram which takes visitors to the top for a spectacular view from the observation room.
Im a bit confused about the 'tram' thing, but thats what the back of the card says. Either way, it MUST be an amazing view from there...

the stamps used on the card are really nice too. The hearty stamp on the left is a commemorative one issued in 2008 under the Love issue series, called All heart....its also self-adhesive. The design focuses on a large, bright red heart that is transporting its owner to an unseen beloved who will be gifted with this heart full of love.
Well said....i wonder if this bright red heart can transport me over the Atlantic....

Missouri, USA

Here is an absolutely cool map-card to add to my collection...and my first one from Missouri...its actually my first Missouri card in general....

the sender says that Missouri is known as the "Show Me" state because there are so many things to see there. On the postcard you can see Jesse James, who was a notorious bank robber who robbed banks and trains all over mid-western United States.

this is the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the card...

I like it when cards inspire me with something related to music :-)

hope you liked todays cards and my rantings....stay warm! :)
