next card comes from Bryon's trip to Kentucky...where Winners are Born! (I guess in horse-racing)
I love horses, but not horse-meat...though Ive never tried it (at least not as being declared as horse-meat) but with the latest affairs and all, I wouldnt be surprised that I had also digested some domestic animal parts...yuck! I mean, I know there are people who would say that it is a delicacy...they would say the same about dog or rabbit meat, but..ahh, I cant even bare the idea of eating a fur ball of that kind...with such timid begging eyes...dont you just feel sorry to kill and skin such cuteness??!!
.
Bryon found 3 awesome stamps! One is even matching the card! It is an Olympic Games stamp issued in 1979 in a set of four, for the Olympic Games of 1980, held in Moscow, in the former USSR. Jan Kowalczyk won the gold medal in the equestrian discipline. The next two stamps were issued in 2012, the one in the middle showing the purple-heart-medal, while the one at the right, portrays Edgar Rice Burroughs, the man who invented the character of Tarzan (and Jane probably :))
thanks a bunch Bryon! enjoyed both the card and the stamps!!!

Lake Cumberland, USA
last card for today comes from Kentucky in the USA.
the card shows Lake Cumberland, which covers parts of seven counties in southern Kentucky. The lake covers over 50,000 acres of land, over 100 miles long and over 1200 miles of shoreline. Famous for some of the world's finest houseboats and fastest speedboats. - from the back of the card.
And some stats according to aunt Wiki:
-The normal summer pool is around 723 feet above mean sea level.
-The tree line is about 725 feet.
-The maximum pool is 760 feet at the top of dam floodgates
-Lake is considered at "flood control" level from 723 to 760 feet.
-Normal power drawdown is between 723 and 673 feet.
-At 760 feet elevation, the shoreline of Lake Cumberland is 1,255 miles.
-At maximum possible elevation of 760 feet, Lake Cumberland is considered to be 101 miles long, with a total surface area of 65,530 acres.
-Surface area at 723 feet is 50,250 acres.
-At minimum power pool of 673 feet, the surface area is 35,820 acres .
-Average depth of lake at summer pool of 723 feet above sea level: 90 feet.
-Deepest point in lake: original river channel adjacent to Wolf Creek Dam: 200 feet
The lowest water level recorded (since construction) was 675.10 feet above mean sea level on January 27, 1981. The highest water level recorded was 751.70 feet above mean sea level at 2:00AM, May 13, 1984,
I find these numbers more confusing than helpful......
Ever since the US international postage had increased, I dont see the 94 stamp so often...and then there are also four samples of the Tiffany Lamp issued in 2008.
Thanks for reading and have a great Sunday...im about to enjoy the sunshine!

Kentucky, USA
Here is a great map card, and my first one representing Kentucky actually. Unfortunately, it lacks the *facts and figures* info on the back, so ill have to try summarize some stuff together from the front of the card.
lets see...
- State Bird: The Kentucky Cardinal (didnt know there was such a cardinal...)
- State Flower: The Golden Rod
and Kentucky is also known as the Bluegrass state...but when you mention Kentucky to me, the first thing that comes to my head is KFC, or better known as Kentucky Fried Chicken...Im not some fast food fan....i almost never eat at fast food restaurants, but there...i dont know if its the media or something of the sorts, but this has got incorporated in my head well enough to actually be my first association when it comes to Kentucky...and i dont really feel proud of it now when i take a look at the map and see a bunch of other, probably very significant things to know about....
What particularly gets my attention, are the Ruins of Karnak in the Mammoth Cave, the Indian Burial Wickliffe, the Abraham Lincoln National Historical Park, the Audubon Original Prints at Audubon Memorial State Park.....there is so much to learn about Kentucky, and all i can think of when it comes to it, is KFC...big shame on me for this one...i promise to fix this by the next Kentucky postcard.
this card came along with a number of others in an envelope...and the envelope was simply lovely...why...you can see from the stamps...they are just too cute, and bring the child in me back to life :) I think that the Dumbo one is my favourite...probably coz out of all these characters, he is my favourite one as well...ever since i was little :) If i could, i would keep him as a pet at home.....without his friend mouse if possible :)
