Zion National Park, USA

The shape of these rocks has always been of a great interest to me...
I got this card back in 1996 from my penpal Leen Frenssen who went to the US to visit her sister who was an exchange student.

This canyon overlook trail in Zion National Park leads to a spectacular view down pine creek to the west temple. Navajo sandstone, the cemented remnants of ancient dunes creates the intricately carved foreground.
(from the back of the card, of course)

Hokaido, Japan

A card from my pen-pal Tine Bouckhyt in Belgium, when she went to Japan one summer...isnt it cool, to go on a holiday in Japan?!

On the card you can see the Sounkyo Gorge waterfalls...
Sounkyo is a tourist town famed for its waterfalls: the Ryusei-no-taki (Shooting Stars Falls) and Ginga-no-taki (Milky Way Falls).

The back of the card mentions both of them, so my guess would be that the one on the left is the Shooting Star while the one on the right would be the Milky Way.....or vice-versa :P

beautiful card, no matter what!
