Oh Yeah! A card from Aruba indeed!
And even though it shows all the West Indies islands here, it was mailed from Aruba direct, and therefore is considered to be an Aruba card...funny though, this card is probably sold on all the other islands, and is printed in the USA..so it can be mailed from anywhere as long as its shown on the map...but what matters is that it is a great lovely map card with Aruba stamps on it...wohoo! Oh yeah, a new country in case you were wondering :D :D :D
Aruba is one of those places in the world I often heard about in the movies...the honeymoon destination in most cases.....hope to visit it one day...honeymoon or no :)
two Aruba stamps from 2007, and thats all i know....=/

Pakri, Estonia
A card from my favourites, sent by Janek :)
And you may not notice it at first, but there is a lighthouse on the card :)
The Pakri Peninsula ends in the sea with a limestone cliff up to 25 metres high. Pakri lighthouse is the highest (52m) lighthouse in Estonia.
Just a lovely view, and would be great to have a car-ride along the coast.
Aaannndddd, on a lighthouse postcard, there are EVEN 3 lovely lighthouse stamps!!! And one stamp is indeed the Pakri lighthouse!
Starting with the flower stamp though, it's a self-adhesive stamp from 2007, regarding the Flora subject, and showing an Oxeye Daisy.
The Ristina and the Kopu lighthouse' stamps come as one set issued in 2000, while the Pakri lighthouse stamp was issued in 1995.

Louisiana, USA
And, another lighthouse for today, coming from Louisiana...do you know that this is actually my first ever Louisiana card posted here?
New Canal Lighthouse - this lighthouse was established in 1838. The lighthouse has been reconstructed several times and the current tower was constructed in 1901. The height of the tower is 32 feet. The lighthouse is currently being used as a U.S Coast Guard Rescue Station.
Lovely card and lovely colours.
And one totally new stamp for my collection, the Olympics one. It was issued this year in commemoration of the Olympic Games in Vancouver. The clock stamp is rather known, and the lighthouse one is from 2009 from a set of 5 lighthouse stamps, this one showing the Matagorda Island in Texas.
Thanks for reading, and dont forget to wind the clocks forward tonight.

Djerba, Tunisia
Tunisia....one of the top destinations for Macedonians during summer, yet a place I still havent visited...If im like, served the chance on a plate to go there, I surely will...but personally, not attracted to it...you know that such hot desert places do not feel the most appealing to me
I got this card from Tanja who spent her holidays there last summer...Djerba is actually the largest island off North Africa off the coast of Tunisia. It is one of the few remaining places where the Berber language is still spoken, while another thing that attracts the tourists here is& the 1977 location of the Mos Eisley exterior scenes in the first Star Wars movie, filmed in the town of Ajim.
Here comes a (shameful) admission....havent really watched Star Wars...maybe just a few bits and pieces....well, I know it's an epic movie and like a must-watch but im just not really attracted to such movies....
The stamp is from 2005 from a set of 4 stamps showing Medicinal Plants. This one here is Mint.

The Kokopelli
Didnt really know about The Kokopelli until i received this card.
The Kokopelli is a symbol of the southwest on rock art and pottery. It is one of the most easily recognized figures found in the petroglyphs and pictographs of the southwest. The Southwest Indians associate him universally with fertility as well as their physical and spiritual well being.
The mysterious Kokopelly character can be seen in a number of Native American cultures.
Kokopelli is distinguished by his dancing pose, a hunchback and a flute.
His whimsical nature, charitable deeds, and vital spirit give him a prominent position in Native American cultures.

Scarborough, England
A card from Scarborough.
It is situated on the North Sea Coast of North Yorkshire in England and the largest holiday resort on the Yorkshire coast as well.
The most striking feature of the town's geography is a high rocky promontory pointing eastward into the North Sea. The promontory supports the 11th century ruins of Scarborough Castle and separates the sea front into a North Bay and a South Bay. Well, you can see the South Bay here.
You can also see the Peasholm Park (situated in the North Bay)
The Spa complex (top right corner) is home to the Scarborough Spa Orchestra, the last remaining seaside orchestra in the UK. The orchestra gives ten concerts every week during the summer months.
The Lighthouse you can see, is said to have become popular in the 19th century, both nationally and internationally.
Two definitives from a set of 10 issued in 2009, with a new security print.

Panama
Well, my first postcard in the new outlook...
And this lady seems to have had a nice trip before she arrived to me since this card was first missent to Osaka...where they had put that sticker you can see on the card...i wondered if i should remove it or no, but this sticker feels so special due to its oddity that i decided to keep it intact as it had arrived :)
From what I can read, the sticker says "Customs Inspection and Repacked"......which I found confusing....if this was a package, it wouldnt have caught my attention....but why would they put such a sticker on a postcard? It was sent written and stamped....whats here interesting for the customs? and whats there to repack in the first place? I was actually joking that the lady's pollera seemed suspicious as if she was hiding something underneath.
Btw, Pollera is considered as a typical Panamanian national dress. Looks interesting.
Oh, and Id like to send a special Hello to Chris with this card and celebrate the spring coming ....I know he will like this lady too :P

Ruby Hurley, USA
A bit of education.....
Ruby Hurley (1909-1980) earned recognition with her successful national efforts in organizing and directing youth councils and college chapters for the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NAACP). In the early 1950's she became the organisation's first Southeast Regional Director and opened NAACP's first full-time office in segregated Birmingham, Alabama. She worked courageously investigating racial crimes such as the murders of George Lee and Lamar Smith, voter registration workers in Mississippi, and Emmett Till, a Chicago youth murdered in Mississippi while visiting an uncle. Hurley travelled throughout the dangerous environment of the South opening NAACP offices and in 1965 when Alabama outlawed the organization, she fled to Atlanta and opened another office. She worked throughout the 1960's in the Civil Rights Movements and died just two years after her retirement from NAACP at the age of 70.

Wrangel Island, Russia
One FANTASTIC card I got from my dear Nastia.
What makes me love it even more is coz this place is located in the Arctic Ocean and is close to Chukotka too. And If i hadnt told you before, but the Arctic Ocean is the most fascinating to me....you know that im just fascinated with such extreme points in the world....plus I also like the name "Wrangel". Sounds so cool for an island situated in the Arctic ocean, yet belonging to Russia....for some reason, i just cant relate these two things together :)
And on top of everything it is also a UNESCO whs!
The Wrangel Island was named after Baron Ferdinand von Wrangel who after reading a report by Stepan Andreyev& and hearing Chukchi stories of land at the island's coordinates, set off on an expedition (1820–1824) to discover the island, with no success.
The first recorded landing on the island was by a German whaler Eduard Dallmann in 1866.
Well, its just a lovely card depicting a fascinating place...at least for me.
And while we are at Russia....I need to share something with you.....I came across this at another blog the other day, and Ive been torturing my Winamp with it ever since. Its been a long long time since ive been so fascinated and captured by a man's voice. He's been around for so long and just now i discovered him....i really wonder how i could have missed it....but better late than never.....I really think he is worth sharing:
Nevertheless, I love the song too...and after listening to several of his albums, I have to say I have a new singer added to my list of favourites. I really love his music, and since he sings in Russian, i can understand a great deal of it too :)
here come the lovely Russian stamps too :)
The first one, top left is from 2008, depicting Russia as Ice Hockey World Champions in 2008. The stamp next to it is from 2002 from a set of 4 depicting Volcanoes of Kamchatka (another of my favourite places in Russia). This stamp shows the Troitsky acid crater lake.
On the bottom there is one definitive from 1998 from a set of 11, this one if im not mistaken, is related to agriculture.....while the last stamp is from 2009 - another definitive from a set of 12 showing Russian Kremlins. This one here is the Rostov Kremlin.
Thank you Nastia for this fantastic card and stamps. It definitely goes into my all-time favourite Russian card!

Mons, Belgium
Well, Ive noticed that the majority of my Belgian cards were dealing with Brussels, Brugge or Leuven....so i thought to interfere now with Mons (as you would call it in Belgium), or Bergen (as you would hear it by a Dutch)...rather awkward since i see no close relation to these two words.
Well it's a small city, and what you can see here is the Grand Place which is actually the centre of the historic town where is also town hall with the belfry in the background.
The City Hall, originally built near the current location of the belfry, was moved on the Grand Place in the 13th century. The flamboyant gothic building we see today dates from the 15th century. In front of it stands a statue of a monkey, which is said to bring good fortune to those who pat his head.
A million dollar question....can you see the monkey??? :)
and here comes the boring Belgian guy on a definitive stamp issued in 2009 in a set of 4.

Revamp
Well as you could notice, this blog has "suffered" some outlook changes. Ive been wanting to do it for a long time now, but either i couldnt find a nice template or in most cases, it was impossible to arrange the widgets properly, and the page just looked messy with things overlapping each other.
With the coming of spring, i really liked this template and feels cheerful and happy as well...the other template just felt soooo plain that it was so much annoying me. But there you go, finally it happened.
Im not sure if i will keep this one permanently....might switch to something else if i find it much more appealing or interesting, and if i manage to make the settings work (playing with html can be fun, but frustrating as well:))
Well for now i do like it how it looks and the positive energy it has....hope you like it too :)
Will come back with some cards later hopefully

Copenhagen, Denmark
For a long long time I had this card in my favourites! I couldnt believe it a few days ago when I found it in my mailbox!!!! Janek, you are amazing!!!!!
To me, this is probably the most fantastic Danish card I had seen, and I fell for it from the moment I laid my eyes on it almost two years ago.
There is just something really special about the card...starting from the colours...they make the image just lovely. Copenhagen itself is simply beautiful. And the greatest touch is added by the bicycles. You know how much I love bikes, and you (probably) know that one of the reasons why I love Copenhagen is coz its known as well as the Bicycle Capital City of the World...and I just love it how they are scattered on this card...yet, the owners dont really worry about them....they know they are safe. Here, they are capable to steal your bike even if its firmly locked...they made an attempt on mine once...trying to cut the chain. My dear lovely blue bike.
You know, i still cant believe it that after all this time, this card is finally MINE MINE MINE! When totally not expected even one single bit!
I think that butterflies seem to be quite often a motif for the Danish stamps. This one is from a set of 4 stamps representing Nature, issued this year.
Aitäh Janek!!!

A nice night view of Minnesota's St.Paul
Got this card in the World Languages RR. Well, my sending partner was Russian, so I think she didnt have much trouble with the alphabet. BUT! My receiving partner was Japanese....and I was supposed to write a postcard in ORIGINAL Japanese characters...can you imagine?! Funny though, she perfectly understand what I wrote...though, if you are asking me, and if you give it to me to read it now, I would absolutely have no idea whats in there...but it was fun. Im anticipating the next round, wondering how lucky Ill be...I have a feeling ill get some odd language again :)
Apart from the Freedom Bell stamp, there is another nice one issued in 2009, commemorating Kwanzaa (which is observed from December 26 to January 1 every year).
Unfortunately, there is also one of those postal stickers, since the postage on the stamps wasnt enough, so they had to compensate the 10c like this =/

Apa Khabar from Malaysia
The last card for today came as a surprise from dear Lyan.
Its a card different from all the others i have from Malaysia, coz its actually a humourous one. Or in a way it tells you how you will be welcomed if you decide to visit the country.
This is what the back of the card says:
"You will be greeted with a cheerful "Apa Khabar?" (the local equivalent of "How are you?") everywhere you go in Malaysia.
The sight of fish dying in the sun is a cool cat's idea of gastronomic heaven"
:))))))
The stamps are just fantastic! They were issued in 2007 in a set of 5 stamps showing insects.

Jamaica
One of the popular dishes ad delicacies coming from Jamaica....
Cut up into small cube, 2lbs goat or mutton. Place in a large bowl. Add 1 crushed clove of garlic, 2 tomatoes, 2 onions, 1 stalk of escallion, 1 hot pepper chopped, then 3 tablespoons curry, salt and pepper to taste. Mix all together. Allow to rest for 1/2 hour. Separate meat from seasoning. Fry meat in 2 tablespoons butter, 2 fluid ozs. oil until brown. Add seasoning and 2-3 cups of water. Cover and simmer until tender. Serve with rice.
It may be really interesting to learn about such traditional dishes, but this is so much something i would NEVER try...im not a vegetarian, but apart from chicken and fish, i can hardly digest other sorts of unprocessed meat....and fish actually aint meat...it's fish....
the stamp is from a set of 8 definitives issued in 2006. its part III of this subject regarding Classical architecture, where here you can see Devon House St. Andrew
well, ive already posted about it, so this was more just a copy-paste job :)

Cats
Well, I had received a bunch of cat cards so far, and I thought that its a bit pointless to post them one by one, so i decided to post a few altogether with a few words for each of them....and in the meantime, i had removed the "cats" from my wishlist, until a further notice...i really need to find a way to deal with these first :)
a card from a dear forum member, Soilian, which came as an official. Its always nice to receive officials from people I already sort of know :)
And a great stamp! Issued in 2008 in a set of 2, both of 0.80 € value, commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Mika Waltari. He was a Finnish writer best known for his novel The Egyptian.
The stamp shows an illustration for a detective novel published in 1940, Komiario Palmun Erehdys or Inspector Palmun's Mistake.
This other cat card came as a part of the WOTM lottery I wont for the month of October :)
the stamp is the quite famous definitive depicting flowers (issued in 2009 in a set of 2)
This one came as a swap....I just really like such cat-dog friendships, esp. when such big dogs seem to be so harmless and cat-friendly :)
I love this stamp too. Its from a set of two stamps from 2009, regarding the EUROPA - Astronomy issue.
My last cat card for today is another official (in case you had noticed, there is some similarity among these cats....and more or less they look like my Kimi....though I must say Kimi is much more adorable....sorry :P)
Another German flower (from 2007), the tulip in particular. The stamp on the right is from a set of 2 issued in 2008 representing Greeting stamps.

Lithuania
I really love the shape of this card...not the easiest to handle though, esp. with those postal postcards-eating machines...
I think that even though I have a number of Lithuanian cards so far, most of them are multiviews, so im still missing singles from some of the places. Im still yearning for that great aerial view od Trakai....and I dont really have cards showing Kretinga for example or Šiaulai. Its a pity when there is such a diversity of places to get mainly Vilnius or Kaunas or such....I was super happy when I got my first Vilnius card, esp since it was a very beautiful one but i think its time to move to some other places in Lithuania too.
the stamp is a self-adhesive one from a set of 6 issued in 2008 portraying the Wooden Sacral Architecture of Lithuania, where this stamp in particular shows the Church of Uzventis 1703

Giza, Egypt
Yeah, Im still feeling crappy, and im having this terrible headache, and I guess I just had to distract myself from all that...at least for a while...and usually this is my refugee place, if you can call it so.
Staša sent me this card from her trip to Egypt last summer, and I really appreciate it coz even though she didnt have one of the greatest times and had problems all along, she still found the time and the mood to send out some postcards.
Well I think that everyone's first association to Egypt and Giza would of course be the Pyramids.
I suppose this is the Great Pyramid, or also known as Pyramid of Khufu and the Pyramid of Cheops, which is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the& Giza Necropolis.
It is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and the only one to survive substantially intact. It is believed the pyramid was built as a tomb for fourth dynasty Egyptian Pharaoh Khufu (Cheops in Greek) and constructed over a 20-year period concluding around 2551 BC.
both of the stamps are from a set of 6 definitives issued in 2002.

Formula 1
I was wondering if i should make an F1 post at all or no....well, the decision is quite obvious.
well, this is a sort of outdated card, but probably the most appropriate one i have for the current post.
Yesterday the new F1 season officially began...and yesterday, was the first time that I actually hadnt watched it..ok, i watched the start only, and something like 5 minutes somewhere near the end...and thats it...and thats how actually this whole season ahead will be....without Raikkonen, I have no one else to wholeheartedly cheer for, and when I dont have such a favourite, I also dont have the enthusiasm to watch something.
I have the enthusiasm to watch the WRC but due to my bad timing, i had already missed that, and the next one is due in April.
I just need to make sure that I can watch it on RTL or find a free live streaming...
As for today's race from what I read, it was Ferrari who had a 1:2 win...and Im sort of glad about it, coz Masa is back after last year's accident, and also Alonso is in Ferrari...but I still cant grasp that Schumacher is back and that he is driving for Mercedes....I just dont like that guy....so even though i have no favourite driver this year, I just DONT DONT DONT want Schumacher or Hamilton to take the title....if there are drivers I cant possibly stand, its those two guys.
Oh, I like it that Pedro de la Rosa is back to F1...he was a good driver...and another news is that there are 12 teams this year, or 24 drivers.....as they say, the more the merrier :)
Well, i will follow the news of how the races go, and who knows, if it does seem to be interesting, i might watch it...after all, i have some circuit cards to post...they need to be used :)

Serra da Estrela, Portugal
A card I got from one of the Portuguese meetings....I just love getting the meeting cards...makes me feel special when they think of me :)
Located in inland central Portugal, this beautiful area called the Serra da Estrela is in fact a protected National Park. It is a wonderful place to explore. In the summer it is not getting too hot, and on a clear day you might even be able to see the sea over 150 kilometres in the distance! There is plenty to see and do. Dramatic crags and ravines makes this area a stunningly beautiful drive or hike. There are several walking trails. In winter this magical area is transformed into a glittering white kingdom.
The Serra da Estrela is also famous for its wonderful cheese called "Queijo da Serra", as well as its smoked sausages.
Here are the signatures of all the participants in the meeting, but my thank-you goes to Marta, coz she is the one who addressed this card for me :)
the card is from a set of 8 stamps issued in 2009 showing the Women of the Portuguese Republic. On this one Angelina Vidal is portrayed, a poet, journalist and professor.

Yellowstone, USA
This is my third Yellowstone Postcard...you can read about the other two, here and here.
And a card with some text on the back...just as I love it....when I need a saviour :)
Lower Falls, at 308 feet is Yellowstone National Park's highest waterfall. The green colour of the water that extends part-way down the falls is caused by a notch in the riverbed at the top of the falls which allows the river to retain some of its natural green colour instead of immediately breaking into spray.
Well, Im off to read something or watch a move, or anything....ive overslept most of the day either way =/

Happiness of the Girl with Fruit, Cambodia
A lovely card i received from my dear Zarah (who btw I hope is watching Indian Wells :))
The card is simply named as the title says "Happiness of the Girl with the Fruit".
Her smile feels so warm and genuine...while she is rowing this boat by herself which i HIGHLY doubt is an easy thing to do....moreover coz as Zarah says, underneath the brown water there are creatures to make you squirm. But she seems to have no fear and she is doing what she does with such an ease...I honestly really admire her and wish i was like her. I wonder how old she is...seems like only in her teen years to me...
And lest not forget, the fruit she has on the boat feels delicious and I would just LOVE to try it all!
The bigger stamp on top is from 2005 from a set of 5 stamps showing the Khmer Culture and this one shows the very famous Angkor Wat...the other one is a definitive issued in 2001 (from a set of 7) simply called Cambodia.
Thank You Zarah, as always!

Istanbul, Turkey
I got this card from the Slavic RR, the Big group 13, from dear Pinar.
I really like the card she chose for me, coz its not one of those typical view cards I often get from Turkey, but it shows something different, and rather special as well.
The card is from a special collection of Turkish Postal Services. It was printed in honour of the beauties of Istanbull, 2010 European Capital of Culture. On the card you can see one of the mosaics from the "Mosaics Museum". It hosts mosaics from the Byzantine period, unearthed at the site of the Great Palace of Constantinople.
What I really also love about this card is that it has a matching stamp (pre-printed one) and I also love the clear cancellation...I really dont get to see such every day.
Thanks a lot Pinar! It was a pleasure to have you in this Slavic RR! :)

Prague, Czech Republic
Last year I was pleasantly surprised with a few cards from the Czech Republic sent by dear Janek. The first one I posted was portraying Franz Kafka. This second one is a huge amazing card showing Prague.
And here is a view of the very famous Charles Bridge or Karlův most as the Czechs would say it.
The bridge is 516 meters long and nearly 10 meters wide, resting on 16 arches shielded by ice guards. It is protected by three bridge towers, two of them on the Lesser Quarter side and the third one on the Old Town side. The Old Town bridge tower is often considered to be one of the most astonishing civil gothic-style buildings in the world. The bridge is decorated by a continuous alley of 30 statues and statuaries, most of them baroque-style, erected around 1700.
During the night the Charles Bridge is a quiet place. But during the day it changes its face into a very busy place, with painters, owners of kiosks and other traders alongside numerous tourists crossing the bridge.
if you wanna read more, ive already spoken a bit of the Charles Bridge at this post.
Janek used a lovely stamp from 2004 showing the Brno church.
I honestly never understood how when even going on a holiday, he is able to find such a great variety of stamps to use on his postcards. Im really happy he does!
Btw, the other picture above and the one on the left arent stamps...they are pictures the same as the postcard, just shown in black and white version. However, the funny thing is that they were both cancelled as if they were stamps :)))))
