Salzgitter is a city in the southeast lower Saxony, in Germany.
It is located in a bride dell coated with loess, between the Oderwald Forest and the Salzgitter-Höhenzug ("Salzgitter Hills"). The largest extension of the city area is 24 km from north to south and 19 km from east to west. The highest point in it is the hill Hamberg (275 m), located north-west from Salzgitter-Bad.
