Montreal, Canada

Heading off to North America now and paying a visit to Montreal...

Well, this view is just simply....beautiful....on the back of the card its said that Montreal is a city with a soul, and according to many people, one of the most-european cities in North America.

It is the largest city in the province of Quebec, and the second largest city in Canada. It used to be the largest one until 1970 when it was eclipsed in size and importance by Toronto. It was originally called Ville-Marie ('City of Mary'), and some historians think the city takes its present name from the Mont Réal, the three-head hill at the heart of the city, whose name was also initially given to the island on which the city is located.

A thing that comes to my mind when it comes to Montreal, is the F1 Grand Prix, which takes place there in the famous circuit named after the late Jilles Villeneuve...and another thing i find interesting regarding Montreal, is the Underground City....

And as for the card, it actually shows Downtown Montreal, which is its central business district and lies at the foot of Mount Royal, a major urban park and as well a popular tourist destination. Most of the city's skyscrapers are located here which, by law, cannot be greater in height than Mount Royal.
