Estonia

My first official card from Estonia!

EE-23825

Well, Eesti actually stands for Estonia, and thats the name of the country in Estonian. Funny thing is, when i hear "Eesti" for some reason it reminds me of Ploiesti which is actually a city in Romania, but that '-esti' ending just brings the resemblance.

Anyway....here we have an Estonian card with several city's town-halls...i guess...Ive already spoke of two of them, Tallinn and Tartu....you can search the labels and you'll find it...ill leave the rest two for a time when i may get a card showing those two particular places only....lets see some facts and trivia about Estonia now...

It is a country in Northern Europe in the Baltic Region. It is bordered to the north by Finland across the gulf of Finland, to the west by Sweden, to the south by Latvia, and to the east by the Russian Federation.
The modern name of Estonia is thought to originate from the Roman historian Tacitus, who in his book "Germania" described people called Aestii. Similarly, ancient Scandinavian sagas refer to a land called Eistland.
Estonia is a democratic parliamentary republic, divided into fifteen counties, with Tallinn as its capital. With only 1.3 million inhabitants, it comprises one of the smallest populations of the European Union countries.
After a number of wars, eventually Estonia was occupied by the Soviet Union in 1944 and regained its independence in 1991. Today it has one of the fastest growing economies.

mmmmm, i have to say that i really love the Estonian flag. It may be simple, but it has a perfect combination of colours, it gives some feeling that it actually belongs to northern Europe...and that shade of blue is lovely :)))
